Castor Wheels

Castor Wheels

Our Castor Wheels Range

Browse our comprehensive range of castor wheels, covering everything from light duty options for furniture and domestic equipment to heavy duty castors built for moving heavy machinery around warehouses and factories. Whatever your industry, if it rolls, we can keep it rolling — and if you're not sure where to start, our sales team is always happy to help you find the right castor first time.

Every product in this collection is listed with its key features displayed clearly: wheel diameter, fitting, bearing type and rated load capacity, so you can check an exact match against the castor you're replacing before you purchase. We test what we sell, we're committed to customer satisfaction, and with over 40 years in the business, our advice is free and worth taking.

Swivel, Fixed and Braked Castor Wheels

Swivel Castors

Swivel castors rotate through 360° around a vertical axis, with the wheel mounted on an offset fork so the castor body trails naturally behind the direction of travel. Quality swivel rotation makes equipment easier to steer in tight spaces — essential for trolleys, industrial equipment and anything moved around a busy building.

Fixed Castors

Fixed castors hold their wheel in a straight line, providing directional control and added stability at speed or over distance. Most trolleys are supplied with a swivel/fixed combination — two of each — which sets the unit up to steer at one end and track straight at the other.

Braked Castors

Braked castors keep equipment safely in place, with wheel-only brakes for lighter jobs and combined swivel and wheel locking for total security. Where safety matters — slopes, patient equipment, loading areas — a brake isn't optional, and we recommend it as standard.

Wheel Materials to Suit Every Floor

The wheel material determines how a castor performs depending on the ground beneath it, so it's worth a moment to understand the options:

  • Rubber — quiet, controlled movement that protects delicate floors; commonly chosen for retail, hospitality and furniture. Black and grey rubber tyres are available on nylon, plastic and metal centres.
  • Nylon and polypropylene — hard-wearing, low friction and easy to keep clean, ideal for warehouses and wet or washdown conditions.
  • Polyurethane — the all-rounder: a polyurethane tyre combines floor protection with high capacity and excellent resistance to wear and tear. Polyurethane wheels on cast iron centres handle the most demanding industrial applications.
  • Stainless steel castors — corrosion resistance for food, medical and chemical environments where standard industrial castors would deteriorate.

Wheels in this collection are available in sizes from 50 to 200 millimetres and beyond — and as a rule, a larger wheel makes rolling easier, copes better with debris, and reduces the effort applied to get heavy loads moving.

How to Choose the Right Castor Wheels

Load capacity comes first: add the weight of the equipment to its maximum load, divide by three, and choose castors rated at or above the result — on uneven ground only three wheels may carry the weight at any moment, so this margin is essential for safety and productivity.

Then check the fitting. Top plate castors follow standard bolt hole centres across the trade, so replacements usually bolt straight on; bolt hole castors fit tubular frames via a single fixing, with expanding adaptors available to accommodate different tube sizes. Remember that castor sizes refer to the wheel diameter, not overall height — a 100mm castor stands taller than its name suggests, so measure carefully if clearance is tight.

Finally, consider the bearing type and tread. Plain bearings are simple and robust; roller bearings cut the effort needed to start heavy loads moving; and precision ball bearings ensure smooth movement wherever equipment is pushed by hand all day, providing increased productivity for a small extra cost. A wider tread width spreads weight over soft floors, while a crowned tread swivels more easily. Heavy duty models may also feature a grease nipple for easy maintenance, keeping performance consistent through years of hard use. And if your equipment needs to sit rigid at a set height rather than roll — machinery, benches, production line units — levelling castors are the alternative to consider: contact us and we'll advise on the best option.

Castor Wheels for Almost Every Application

Customers across the UK use our castor wheels on warehouse and platform trolleys, industrial machinery, catering and medical equipment, retail display units, furniture — even the humble office chair. From engineering workshops to domestic jobs, this collection is designed to cover almost every application; and if you can't find the exact item you need, we can usually source it, because supplying the awkward stuff is where four decades of experience really shows. (One quick spelling note for anyone searching from habit: castor and caster are the same product — British and American spellings respectively.)
